February 2013: a morning race day

Our race co-ordinators put our names down for races: 50 metres, 100 metres, around the baths or the kilometre (around the baths is about 800 metres).

Electricity is off: so ice is brought in to cool the drinks.
A note about electricity: you don't notice it until you don't have it.  In the club room, our refrigerator, kettle and hot water (for washing up) are without power.  All three are sorely missed.  A borrowed generator provides just enough power for our laptop and printer - both necessities for co-ordinating the races.

Our club room, and much of the the park, has been without electricity for several weeks now, the problem being that the underground wiring has gone feral, the solution to which is in the hands of our local council and our electricity provider.

Sunscreen is always in the swimming bag...

...or should I say, swimming basket.

We're doing well, despite the lack of electricity: but won't it be welcome when it returns....
Oh, for a warm shower on a cool day!
